The current voucher program has no track record of success, no proven outcomes, no quality controls, and growing reports of misuse and mismanagement. Instead of fixing these failures, lawmakers want to rapidly expand the system, gambling millions of taxpayer dollars on a program that hasn’t shown it works. Tennessee would never expand a healthcare program, a business initiative, or a major state agency without proof of performance. Schools should be no different.

Expanding an untested voucher system puts students, communities, and public finances at risk. Public schools are already working overtime to serve every child with transparency and accountability. Before Tennessee pours more money into a program full of red flags, we deserve results — not unproven bets with our children’s education and our state’s future.
